Are you an undergraduate student at BU with a passion for the arts and storytelling? We’ve got the perfect student job for you!

About the Position:

The BU College of Fine Arts Communications Office is looking to hire a current Boston University student to fill our Communications Assistant position and begin this Fall 2022 Semester.

We seek a creative, driven, outgoing, and hard-working undergraduate student, who enjoys collaborative work, storytelling, and has an appreciation for the arts. Storytelling is a large component of CFA’s Communications Office, and the student must be comfortable writing long- or short-form content.

Tasks include working with the CFA Director of Communications, CFA Assistant Director of Communications, and CFA Communications Manager in identifying newsworthy content. The Communications Assistant interviews CFA faculty, students, and staff to write thoughtful articles that are then posted by the Communications Manager on CFA’s official website and social media channels.

The Communications Assistant also works on student features for social media posts and is encouraged to develop with campaigns or share new social media trends from the industry that the team can then apply to our digital channels. Depending on the student’s schedule, the Communications Assistant may also be tasked with attending CFA events and capturing photos and videos for social media. Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Be a current BU undergraduate student (all majors are welcome to apply. Historically, we’ve seen a high interest from Communication majors)
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Possess organization skills and attention to details
  • Professional attitude and be self-motivated
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; and Google Docs and Sheets
  • Written and verbal communication skills and some graphic design experience (Canva, Photoshop is a plus)
  • Interest in the arts – music, theatre, visual arts – and other areas of interest such as sustainability, climate, inclusion and equity

10 hours per week, subject to change based on student’s availability. This position works at CFA’s Communications Office on the BU West Campus at 855 Commonwealth Avenue. Hybrid work model is possible.
