On Friday, May 8, 2020, Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Visual Arts (SVA) launched the BFA Thesis site to celebrate work of our 39 graduating seniors in Graphic Design, Painting, Printmaking, and Sculpture.Branding and website designed by BFA seniors Jiayi Ma, Angela Sun, and Angie Wijaya.
Following a similar format, SVA launched the MFA Thesis site on Friday, May 15, 2020, to celebrate the work of the 40 graduating MFA candidates. The website features work by graduating MFA candidates in Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic design. Branding and website designed by MFA candidates Wei Yun Chen, Julian Parikh, Farinaz Valamanesh, and Krystyn Wypasek.
During both virtual celebrations, SVA announced the 2020 recipients of scholarships, awards, and prizes awarded to those graduating for outstanding excellence in the School of Visual Arts. 2020 Award Winners
Ablow Award
2nd MFA Painting candidate Alex Stern is honored this year, having received the award as rising 2nd year in 2019.
Awarded to a promising rising second year Master of Fine Arts Painting major at Boston University in honor of former professor Joseph Ablow. The recipient of the award is recommended by the Graduate Painting faculty.
Goldenberg Award
2020 Recipient: BFA Sculpture junior Go Eun (Grace) Lee.
Awarded to an outstanding female sculpture major enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Boston University. Nominated for this award by the Sculpture faculty. The Goldenberg family created this award to honor Laura Goldenberg who was a sculpture student in the School of Visual Arts at Boston University. In addition to honoring Laura, this award also honors Geraldine Goldenberg, Laura’s late mother.
Jack Kramer
BFA Painting senior Olivia James is honored this year, having received the award as a junior in 2019.
Jack Kramer Memorial Scholarship. Awarded to a promising junior Painting major at Boston University in honor of former faculty member, Mr. Kramer. Nominated by the painting faculty.
Marianna Pineda
BFA Sculpture seniors Devin Wilson and Sofija Chroneos are the 2020 recipients.
Award to outstanding graduating sculpture student(s). Nominated by the sculpture faculty.
Kahn Award
MFA Painting candidates Alex Stern and Diana Walsh were named as finalists this year.
The Kahn Career Entry Fund for the Arts was established to provide funds to assist talented students who complete undergraduate or graduate programs at CFA at the beginning of their careers.
