Boston University College of Fine Arts presents Behind the Scenes of “Frozen”

A talk with Academy Award-winning Producer and CFA Alumnus, Peter Del Vecho September 20th — Part of Boston University Alumni Weekend 2014

Photo Peter DJoin Academy Award-winning producer of Frozen, Peter Del Vecho (CFA ‘80), for a behind-the-scenes look at how he and the creative team at Walt Disney Animation Studios transformed Hans Christian Andersen’s traditional fairy tale, The Snow Queen, into a cultural touchstone and box office sensation.

Considered by many to be Disney’s best animated feature since the studio’s renaissance era, Frozen is the highest-grossing animated film of all-time and is the recipient of two Academy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Peter will trace Frozen’s journey from the classic tale about an evil queen and heroic prince to the story about fearless princesses and the special relationship between those two sisters, Elsa and Anna, whom adults and children alike have come to love.

Peter Del Vecho (CFA ‘80) was most recently the producer of Walt Disney Animation Studios Frozen, for which he received the Academy Award® for “Best Animated Feature”, as well as the Producer’s Guild Award for “Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures.” A Boston native, Del Vecho joined Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1995 bringing a wealth of production experience from theaters in New York and on the East Coast, including Guthrie Theater. While working at Disney, Del Vecho was the production manager of Hercules, the associate producer of the Oscar®-nominated Treasure Planet (2002), and the associate producer of Chicken Little (2005), the studio’s first full-length 3D animated feature. Del Vecho also produced the animated musical comedy The Princess and the Frog (2009), which received three Oscar® nominations.

Recognized for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the arts, Del Vecho is a recipient of Boston University College of Fine Arts 2014 Distinguished Alumni Awards, the most prestigious honors conferred by the College.
