“A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder,” produced by CFA Alum, Stewart Lane, leads nominees
Boston, MA – Boston University College of Fine Arts is pleased to announce School of Theatre alums nominated for Tony Awards this season, including:
Best Musical
Stewart Lane (CFA ’73), A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder
Best Lighting Design of a Musical
Christopher Akerlind (CFA ’85), Rocky
Stewart Lane’s A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, up for ten awards, led the 2014 nominations. Nominations include: Best Musical; Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical (Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham); Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical (Lauren Worsham); Best Scenic Design of a Musical (Alexander Dodge); Best Costume Design of a Musical (Linda Cho); Best Direction of a Musical (Darko Tresnjak); Best Orchestrations (Jonathan Tunick); Best Book of a Musical; and Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theater.
In addition, the School of Theatre would like to congratulate Reed Birney, who attended CFA from 1972–74, for his nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play, as well as fellow BU alums and producers, Frederick Zollo (CAS ’75), Casa Valentina; and Allan S. Gordon (LAW ’75) and James L. Nederlander (CGS ’80), After Midnight.
Marking 68 years of excellence on Broadways, The Tony Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS on Sunday, June 8th at 8pm.
