College of Fine Arts, 855 Commonwealth Ave, Room 500

Inside Community is an interdisciplinary project undertaken by visual journalism and visual art students at Boston University. Students are tasked with defining community to understand its boundaries, priorities and values, and to use an insider’s position to reflect on the community. This panel discussion will guide students working on the Inside Community project with a practical discussion on the importance of connecting with a community to form a visual perspective. Our panelists will explore how they are able to form a deep connection with a community. The event is also open to the general public.

Panelists:

Edie Bresle, Associate Professor of Practice, Simmons College
Stella Johnson, Lecturer, Visual Journalism, COM/BU
Pamela Lightsey, Associate Dean for Community Life and Lifelong Learning,
Clinical Assistant Professor of Contextual Theology and Practice, BU

Moderators:

Greer Muldowney, Lecturer, BC & CFA/BU and
Peter Smith, Senior Lecturer, Visual Journalism, COM/BU)

Co-sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and the College of Communication at Boston University.
