During the summer, trombone students of Professor Gabe Langfur participated in separate competitions associated with the International Trombone Association. The meeting of the ITA was held in Valencia, Spain.
- DMA student Brittany Lasch was a finalist in the Frank Smith Solo Competition.
- BM Junior Bass Trombone major Dan Vaitkus won the George Roberts Solo Competition with the composer of the required piece, Eric Ewazen, in attendance.
