All University Commencement Ceremony

Attending the Ceremonies
Neither the University-wide ceremony nor the CFA convocation ceremony is mandatory. Graduates who are unable to attend may have their diplomas mailed. All degree candidates should access the Student Link to verify and/or update important diploma and commencement information. If you do not have access to the Student Link, please visit the Office of the University Registrar’s website. The Office of the University Registrar provides the dates which the diplomas are released for mailing. It is imperative that your mailing address is correct in order to receive your diploma. Diplomas will be mailed to September and January graduates and for those May graduates unable to attend the CFA Convocation Ceremony.
Graduation Reviews and Degree Requirements
YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED YOUR GRADUATION APPLICATION IN ORDER TO GRADUATE.
Apply for Graduation - PLEASE NOTE: It is too late to apply for May 2015 – contact Alyssa Baker at afbaker@bu.edu
All students must have a graduation review or received verification that they have completed their graduation requirements. Unresolved problems may hold up receipt of your degree. Any AP scores, transfer credits and declaration of minors MUST be resolved immediately. Contact CFA Records Manager, Mary Ducharme to ensure you are able to graduate on time.

Latin Honors
Only undergraduate students at Boston University can receive Latin Honors. Students with Latin Honors will receive honor cords for the CFA Convocation ceremony. They are available for pick up in the Dean’s Office, Room 230. See Julie Hall at the front desk.
Latin Honors Breakpoints for May 2015, September 2015 and January 2016 graduates:
Cum Laude 3.62 – 3.75
Magna Cum Laude 3.76 – 3.83
Summa Cum Laude 3.84 – 4.00
Latin honors are calculated after the seventh semester. They can go up but will not go down.
Online Graduate Students
Students in our music education and art education graduate programs should direct any questions to Shannon Streets, Academic Administrator for Online Programs at sstreets@bu.edu. We look forward to seeing you at the ceremony!
Cap and Gown Information
You can order your cap and gown from January 1 – March 16, 2015 through the BU Commencement website. Undergraduates and Masters students are required to buy regalia and DMA students must rent regalia. All participants must wear a cap and gown walk in the May ceremony.
Financial Aid Exit Counseling and Your Student Account
If you have a Federal Stafford Loan, you MUST complete exit counseling in order to graduate. Please go to the Financial Aid webpage to complete this. Perkins Loans require that you call 617-353-2340 to complete exit counseling.
If your student account is not settled you will not receive your diploma. Please make sure your bill is 100% all set. Check with Student Accounts if you have questions.
